November 2012 Elections will be in the hands of the PEOPLE of Minnesota

I have just posted this to my FaceBook page.
  Residents of Minnesota
LET US TAKE BACK OUR COUNTRY.
All across the country, the citizens of these United States have realized that Congress is not going to impeach the current president. He was never qualified to be a leader of our country in more ways than one.
There is one clear and unchallenged fact. Barack Obama's Father was not a U.S. citizen!!!!
Barack does not meet the requirements for being a United States President as put forward by the U.S. Constitution.   End of story !

All Moved In and Ready to Recover!

Now that I have moved into my apartment, I hope I live long enough to enjoy my new place. The move may just have shortened my days here on earth by about half. - Just kidding. I feel like that now, but I will recover as I sit in my new home and go through boxes and boxes of stuff I don't really need. Thank goodness my garbage fee is included in my rent payment. Still have not committed to an internet provider. I'm editing this "blog page" with the free WiFi here at the balcony "Community Room" of the local Lunds grocery store. Just for something of interest to look at on this most recent, long awaited contribution to my life update. Here is a screen-shot of what I do to keep sharp in my Scrabble competition. I play against the computer in an inexpensive downloaded one-on-one Scrabble computer game.

Move # 4
Don't ask me why, but FURZY is in the official Scrabble Dictionary.
Note the score for this move. - 101 points

Move #5
Just a good old fashioned "PEEVISH"
Peevish for 21 pts, Joules for 13 pts., and a 50 pt. BONUS for using all seven letters. Total for this turn - 84 points
Grand Total after five turns - 275

New E-Mail Address for Grandpa Bob - goodbye Comcast

Comcast is run by people who donate money to the reelection campaign for Barack Obama. As far as I am concerned, these people are blind to what is happening to America under the Obama administration and I will have nothing to do with them. Google is not much better. The Google search results prefer to direct people to bogus sites like "Snopes.com" a  very small operation financed by George Soros. Sites like this spout Liberal Propaganda favoring Obama and his payed off thugs like Eric Holder and Timothy Geithner. The Snopes site has been proven to tell blatant lies concerning anything negative said about the man the democrats from Chicago have put in office as president.  If he is not impeached, he may not be on the ballot in many states.  http://unlawfulpresident.com/obama-ballot-challenge-2012/

I will no longer be using Comcast and their cable system.

My new E-Mail will be :  rmp4wayzata@gmail.com

Grandpa Bob is Moving South - (14 City Blocks)

I wonder if it will be any warmer, way down there on 14th Ave. N. ?  That's right, after 17 years here at 28th Ave. N., it is time for me to collect anything important in this four bedroom, two story walkout with finished basement, and move it all into a one bedroom apartment.  Maybe I can do that if I can drive "up north" and find Paul Bunyan's shoe horn. The Minnesota people know what I'm talking about. Ya sure, you betcha.
If you want to go get a pencil and something to write on; My new address is:

Grandpa Bob Petrie     (the Grandpa is optional)
17600 14th Ave N  -   Apt. 234
Plymouth  MN 55447-2958

By the way ;  Several days ago, I signed papers for a purchase agreement on the house. Hopefully, everything will work out and the closing will go smoothly. The house has already been inspected by a third party inspector and the buyer is satisfied with the results. We actually had two offers to consider. Steve has been working through the negotiations and has taken a big load off my mind with his thoroughness and attention to detail.
I'm at the Plymouth Library at the present time utilizing the free Internet connection that will have to serve as my connection with the outside world until December 15th. I'll write again soon when I'm not packing up lots and lots of boxes.See you Later, Grandpa Bob

Grandpa Bob Goes "Up North" With Steve

Grandpa Bob and Steve spent the last weekend in Sept. at Steve's family cabin near Cross Lake, Minnesota.
The intent was to close up the cabin for the winter, but we had to take a little time to do some fishing for Northern Pike. As you can see, the weather was perfect.
A 26" - 3lb 1oz Pike we cleaned and ate           A 29" - 5lb oz Pike - released

A nice couple of days with a boy and
his dear old dad.
Now for "The Rest of the Story."

Fast forward to Sunday evening, October 2.

North Memorial Hospital Emergency Room

Sunday Oct. 2, 7:00 PM and I needed a ride to North Memorial Hospital.
Luckily, John was home, back in Plymouth for the Wayzata High School homecoming football game.

Nothing heart related this time. I suppose it could have been fatal if not treated.Or possibly just an amputation of my right arm.
But we caught it in time and I only spent THREE DAYS in the hospital with a bacterial infection that got into my bloodstream from the mouth of an infected fish. Being on Coumadin (a blood thinner) at the time was not a good thing. It made it harder for my blood to coagulate and helped the bacteria to start racing through my bloodstream.

This is not a lobster claw. It is a photo of my right hand
taken by me with my cell phone at the hospital.
To get it on this Blog page, I took a picture of my cell phone
image with my digital camera and transferred it to my PC.

Thursday morning, Lymph node still
swollen and sore.

And This is the Story - a real whopper!
On Saturday morning Steve and I took a small boat out onto the little lake in front of Steve's cabin. We had some 4" long minnows to put on our lines for trolling. We have caught Northern Pike up to 24 inches long on this lake before.
As we were trolling in a wide circle around our favorite spot on the lake, Steven got a strike. I manned the net and Steve was able to land a 26 inch Northern weighing about 3-4 pounds. We were just sport fishing and threw the fish back.
Not to be outdone, I followed his catch, after approximately half an hour, with one of my own. A fatter and longer version of Steve's Pike. This one was 29 in. long and about 5 lbs. This one also had bigger teeth and some nasty gill rakers. Small sharp points inside the gills. I received three small cuts on my thumb and after measuring and photographing my prize fish, we threw him back into the lake to grow a little more before we might, some day, catch him again.
I never gave the cuts much thought until my son noticed that the bleeding hadn't stopped. I had some tissues and wound them tightly around my thumb and that took care of the situation.  We headed for shore, closed up the cabin, draining water lines and letting air into the pump, etc. Then we left Cross Lake Minnesota, late in the evening to return home.  My thumb was a little sore, but it reminded me of the pain of a wood sliver that hurts and festers a short time, but eventually goes away.
This pain DID NOT go away.  It got worse. A LOT WORSE.  By Sunday evening I knew, after calling my doctor son Tom, in Ohio, I needed to go to the emergency room at North Memorial Hospital.  John drove. I was admitted immediately and given IV antibiotics as soon as possible. It reminded me of one of those TV shows where a man is bitten by a snake or a spider and his hand swells up to twice its size, then the fingers turn black and fall off, one by one.  I had developed a rather serious bacterial infection.  The admitting doctor in the ER told John, "You won't have to stay. Your dad is definitely going to be admitted." I was in a room with an IV line in my arm within an hour. Luckily, after trying three different intravenous antibiotics over Sunday night and Monday with little results. A fourth was tried on Tuesday and my hand stopped swelling and the red streaks going up my arm and under my armpit started to fade. By Wednesday the swelling was almost completely gone and I was released to go home at about 5:00 pm. A very unexpected hospital stay, to be sure.  Everything seems to be OK right now.  I will continue with some common oral antibiotics for about 10 days and should have no long term effects.

After being a Wayzata Football Fan since 1993 - I just can't seem to stop !

The Wayzata Trojan Football team traveled to Dubuque, Iowa to play the team from Carmel Catholic H.S. from Mundelein, Illinois. (Just a little north of Chicago.)
The game just concluded a few minutes ago, with a final score of:

Wayzata - 33

Carmel - 26

Way to go Wayzata Football !!!!

As the game began Wayzata was rated #2 in MN

Carmel Catholic was rated #5 in Illinois

I'm sure it will be a happy bus ride home for the Wayzata Team!

Grandpa Bob has just turned into an "EMPTY NESTOR".

Tuesday, August 30 was the first move-in day for freshmen at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis Campus.  That would include John Hayden Petrie.  Following in his mother's footsteps at her Alma Mater and also her Major: English.  Jane graduated with a degree in English with special credits in Speech and Theater.

This is a short video of where John will be living for at least the next year.
Middlebrook Hall - on the West Bank

John will be in the first type of double room shown in the video, the one with the shared hallway bath.
Both beds are lofted, as shown on the video, to give them some extra room under the raised mattresses.
A few things were left behind at home, but that just gives me an excuse to deliver my first Care Package.

John was very happy to find out that one of his "special" friends is also attending the "U".
A photo of Coral Evans and John at the Wayzata Graduation ceremonies.
The summer went by so quickly.  It has been very busy around our house, as you can imagine.  Maybe I will be able to continue with updates of this Blog more faithfully in the future.

That's all for now,
Grandpa Bob in sunny Minnesota

One of My Favorite Photos From Football WHS 2010

It's the fourth quarter.  You're lucky to still be alive.
250 + 265 =    515 lbs vs 190 lbs - That's only a mismatch of 325 lbs. !

Ben was recruited by Bethel College in Roseville, MN and will be on their Football Team this Fall.
John will not be on a football team for the first time since the Fall of 2002.
This year he will be hitting the books.

Back from Columbus, Ohio - July 2011

Just returned from a visit with Tom, Jamie, Laken and Baylor Petrie in a warm and sunny Columbus, Ohio.

Quite an impressive pencil sketch done by that well known artist, Chuck E. Cheese. Grandpa Bob with Baylor and Laken.  Baylor will be 2 on Oct. 27, and Laken had her 3rd birthday on May 25.

We had such a good time together.  Tom and Jamie scheduled my visit at a time when we could be together for the whole weekend.  I arrived in Columbus on Thursday afternoon.  Jamie picked me up at the airport with the two kids riding in their car seats.  What a great site to see their car pulling up to welcome Grandpa Bob to Ohio.  We drove to the house where they live, in a suburb called Hilliard, just west of downtown Columbus.

On Saturday the temperature was about 92 Deg. so we headed for the waterpark.
The kids had a great time.  Lots of little ones with parents taking pictures.

Tom and Baylor cooling off.

Baylor and Laken taking a break to eat some sandwiches.
Baylor has sunflower seed butter and jelly, (allergy to peanuts) and Laken has a regular PB&J.

Baylor watching all the other kids play.
He is a real sweetie. Many times he would climb up, just to sit on my lap. - Priceless
